BIG, BOLD, AND DRY.
A balance of fruit that doesn’t back down and savory aromas makes Flew The Coup such an impressive red wine. Black cherry and ripe plum aromas are followed by spicy herbs and smoke—a true expression of Syrah, the grape that makes this stunning wine. As seductive on the palate as it is to the eye, you’ll notice as you roll the wine around in your glass that the color is a deep, unmistakable purple. Can we even call it a red wine?
GREAT WINES DON’T DRINK ALIKE.
Syrah is a grape that reveals itself in different ways, depending on where it’s grown. Here in Southern France, it is perfectly at home in the warm, mediterranean climate. Here, the grapevines hug the ground, lest they become completely uprooted by The Mistral, the infamous wind that blows through the region for most of the year, sometimes hitting 60 miles per hour.
But winemakers here have centuries of practices learning how to put up with such nonsense, and we’ve found a way to allow Syrah to thrive, eventually becoming one of the most reknowned grapes in the world.
PAIR DRAMA WITH DRAMA.
Let’s face it, Syrah is kind of a diva. Bold, always making a big deal of an entrance, this is a wine that needs a meal that can handle it. We love spareribs, braised beef, leg of lamb, and salty cheeses like parmesan and smoked gouda.
