Maule Valley, Chile
Rich golden yellow
ALC. BY VOL.:
Heavenly, luscious, piquant, succulent.
Chilean Viognier has a unique ability to embody all of the grape’s classic characteristics, spiced with a new world flourish and exotic appeal. It's hard to get it right, but in the hands of capable winemakers, Viognier can be stunning, even in the far-flung coastal vineyards of Chile.
We work very closely with our Chilean oenologist to ensure the achievement of this qualitative goal – a certain freshness and liveliness, without sacrificing mouthfeel or body. This first vintage of Carrete Viognier has surpassed our exacting standards, and the future for this wine is very, very bright – like the wine itself!
AN EXQUISITE SURPRISE:
We know we shouldn't pick favorites- but we must insist on this one. We love it! Before we even knew what was being poured from us we could tell this was Viognier. It turns out Chile has been producing fine Viogniers for decades, with the country's abundant sunshine and granite soils making a perfect new world destination for this finicky grape.
French versions tend to be more viscous and round - and we love Chilean Viognier's ability to produce fresh, zippy Viogniers, Carrete provides finesse and elegance without losing any of the distinct varietal character that makes great Viognier so seductive. Seduced we are, and we hope you will be as well.
