Creating a blend is like building a recipe—it requires artistry and skill. This is no secret to us; Portugal may just be the master of the red blend. Each region in Portugal is vastly different and so are the grapes grown here. Some are fresh and light, some are rich, some are jammy, and some are savory.

 

So a winemaker must be a chef of sorts, and that makes Birds on a Wire a true work of art. The grapes we blended balance ripe fruit with spice to create a unique flavor profile you can always count on.

 

OVER 200 INDIGENOUS GRAPES AND COUNTING.

 

That’s a lot of grapes. From those, we narrowed it down to three that balanced each other the best to make a bold, dry red wine that packs a punch and leaves a touch of spice. Winemakers here in Portugal are truly the underdog of Europe—while other countries plant French varieties, we choose to focus on native Portuguese grapes that you will only ever find here in the land of seafood and beach hangs.

 

A RED THAT DESERVES A SEAT AT THE TABLE.

 

Birds on a Wire was made to be on your dinner table, open, bringing your meal to a whole new level. The rustic tannins will play well with fatty meats and bold flavors. We recommend drinking this wine alongside porky belly, chicken pot pie, burgers, or tofu stir-fry.
