DESCRIPTION:

Chenin Blanc is the most famous white wine of South Africa. While with many of our calendar selections, we seek something new and unique, with South African Chenin, we went a different direction, and sourced a wine that embodies decades of experimentation, improvement and fine-tuning to produce a signature style found nowhere else in the world.  This little beauty sure screams "South Africa"!

Perhaps the most isolated fine wine producing country in the world, it is no wonder that South Africa is unique in many ways. Atlas Bear Chenin Blanc is very typical of the region's style, incredible quality and very agreeable price point. We love it with seafood and charcuterie...but especially with a simple roast chicken in a cream sauce.

ATLAS BEAR -
HIDDEN IN PLAIN SIGHT:

South Africa’s Western Cape wine region is a beautiful area of mountainous outcroppings and isolated valleys situated within close proximity to the cooling influence of Atlantic Ocean breezes. Producing wine since at least the 1600’s, this region has seen a long history of fine wine production, and since the beginning Chenin Blanc has played a major role.

Wine has always played a notable role in the South African economy and is an integral part of the societal fabric. Anyone who has had the opportunity to visit this lovely part of the world will be amazed by the diversity of nationalities and ethnicities present on the wine trails, a microcosm of the varied influences that makes South Africa such a unique and beautiful country.
